E-books outreach books in numerous concerns: They enables to store plenty of information requiring smallest space while beeing noticeable eco-friendlier and more affordable then conventional books. Furthermore they drastically changes the relationship between reader and author by essentially changing the possibilities of publication. Nevertheless books are still printed and sold – while the establishment of e-books struggles with several challenges, primary because of the technoid feeling of reading.
Even paper imitating display technologies do not succeed in recreating the feeling of reading a real book. The »Alexandria«–concept connects the functional advantages of the medium e-book with the intensive and sensual atmosphere of coffee and enables thereby to create additional benefits on both sides.
The design covers interiour design, the business model and an user-interface, that is optimized for e-ink-displays.
